In July 2025 our development team joined thousands of engineers, builders and technology leaders at the WeAreDevelopers World Congress in Berlin, Europe’s largest developer conference. It was everything we hoped for.
What the stage was about
With speakers such as John Romero, the co-creator of DOOM, and Amazon CTO Werner Vogels, the program was less about hype than about systems that work. Three themes ran through it:
- AI at scale
- Moving models out of notebooks and into production, where latency, cost and reliability decide whether they are used.
- Real-time systems
- Architectures that make a decision on data as it arrives rather than in a nightly batch.
- Pipelines that learn
- Data infrastructure that improves the model as new data flows through it, instead of a one-off training run.
These are the problems we work on every day. We do not build highlight generators or stat dashboards as an end in themselves. We build systems that understand gameplay: movement, pressure, timing and intent. Systems that learn how players think, so they can help them play better.

“We’re not behind. In some areas, we’re ahead.”
We asked Alenka, our backend team lead, what stayed with her after the event. “Going to WeAreDevelopers reassured me that we are on the right track. The tools we use, our architecture decisions, even the challenges we’re facing all reflect what’s happening across the industry.”
She admits she was nervous before the trip. “I thought I might come back overwhelmed or doubting myself. It had the opposite effect. We’re not behind. We’re already applying many best practices in our day-to-day work, and in some areas we’re ahead. It gave me real confidence in what we’re building, and a few ideas I can’t wait to try.”
Built by people who care how it is built
If you have wondered what powers Rankacy, this is it. No shortcuts and no repackaged APIs. Developers solving hard problems with tools they trust, measuring their work against the wider industry and finding that it holds up.
We are just getting started.
